Welcome

You've reached the web pages for the confirmation class at St. James Presbyterian Church in Chicago, Illinois.  Since our young people are very tightly scheduled, we have this site to provide them much of the reading and other materials that we will be referring to during our classes.  This site does not, however, replace the conversations we will be having in our brick and mortar building in regular classes.  The short comments on these pages are designed to whet the appetite and sometimes push a little beyond what any student would be expected to master.  This is also where we provide some of the links and suggestions for further reading for those students who may be interested in following up on a specific topic.

At St. James, we are fortunate to have bright and energetic young people.  We hope in these pages to teach them but also to tickle their curiosity and perhaps challenge them a bit about what the Church can do and how they can take their places as leaders within the Church.

Organization

Each unit includes

• an introductory article,
• a section of the Presbyterian (PCUSA) Study Catechism,
• an section on church history,
• a section on some of the nuts and bolts of being a Christian, and
• a set of review questions.
